Association between TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and risk of oral squamous cell carcinoma in Asians: A meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Several epidemiological studies have investigated the association between the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) susceptibility; however, the results were inconsistent. Therefore, we perform this meta-analysis to investigate the association between them in Asians. Methods: A comprehensive search from PubMed and Embase were performed up to December 2013. Only the cases in the studies were diagnosed with OSCC by pathological methods were considered. After study selection and data extraction, an odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was applied to assess the association, all analyses were conducted using the RevMan 5.2 software. Results: Finally eleven case-control studies involving 2298 OSCC patients and 2111 controls were included. The results indicated that there was no association between the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and OSCC susceptibility [(OR = 0.77, 95%CI = 0.48–1.22) for Arg vs. Pro; (OR = 0.67, 95%CI = 0.31–1.43) for ArgArg vs. ProPro; (OR = 1.14, 95%CI = 0.97–1.35) for ArgPro vs. ProPro; (OR = 0.85, 95%CI = 0.53–1.34) for (ArgPro + ArgArg) vs. ProPro; and (OR = 0.34, 95%CI = 0.34–1.23) for ArgArg vs. (ProPro + ArgPro)]. However, the subgroup analysis demonstrated an association between the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and human papillomavirus (HPV)-related OSCC patients. Although heterogeneity was detected, there was no publication bias. Conclusions: In conclusion, current result suggest that TP53 codon 72 polymorphism is not associated with OSCC in Asians who without HPV infection but might be associated with HPV-related OSCC patients.

Analysis of TP53 Codon 72 Polymorphism in Mucinous and Non-Mucinous Colorectal Adenocarcinoma in Isfahan, Iran
Background: The tumor suppressor gene TP53 (alias p53) located on chromosome 17 is involved in various cancers. Case-control studies have shown that p53 codon 72 polymorphism modulates the prognosis and susceptibility to various malignancies. We undertook the present study to explore a possible association between mucinous and non-mucinous adenocarcinomas with different genotypes or alleles at ...

The present study analyzed the association of tumor protein p53 (TP53) Pro72Arg polymorphism with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in the Mongolian population of Tongliao (Inner Mongolia, China). Restriction fragment length polymorphism-polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the genotype distribution of TP53 Pro72Arg polymorphism in 100 patients with ESCC and 50 healthy controls ...

متن کاملAssociation between XRCC1 (rs1799782) Gene Polymorphism and Oral squamous cell carcinoma
Background and purpose: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common tumor of the head and neck. XRCC1 is a DNA repair gene and there are controversies about the association between XRCC1 gene polymorphism (RS1799782) in pathogenesis and susceptibility to OSCC. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between XRCC1 (rs1799782) gene polymorphism and its dominant all...
